Chiles, Ruth

Ruth Chiles passed away at Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at the age of 79 years. Ruth was born in Vanguard, Sask. on July 26, 1924. She attended Pinto school and then joined the army when she was 17 years old.
While in the army, she met and married her first husband, Ernie (Bud) Quick. They ranched at Lundbreck and returned to Fort Macleod in 1951.
Ruth worked at the old folks’ home, the plywood factory, Estevan/Norfab Mobile Homes and sold lottery tickets at the Legion for a number of years.
Her greatest love was being a mother.
Ruth was predeceased by Ernie in 1971; a son Robert (Bobby) Quick in 1973; her brothers Harry Walsh in 1933 and Roy Walsh in 1993; her sister Mayme Millard in 1989; and by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed and Laura Quick, Percy and Edith Quick, Ed Millard and Norma Morgan.
Ruth is survived by her second husband Syd Chiles; her children, Patti Buck of Lethbridge, Ernest (John) Quick of Victoria, B.C. and Roy (Brenda) Quick of Trail, B.C.; her stepchildren, Gordon (Lois) Chiles of Vancouver, Karen (Ken) Brown, Bill (Elaine), Larry (Jeannie) and Gordon (Larraine) Featherstone of Fort Macleod; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and very dear friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity United Church, Fort Macleod on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at 2 p.m with Rev. Aldeen McKay officiating.
