Andrew Davey, beloved husband of Ruby Davey of Fort Macleod, passed away at the Fort Macleod Hospital on Monday, March 17, 2003 at the age of 89 years.
Besides his wife Ruby, Andy is survived by his stepdaughter Doreen (Tony) Grant and their children, Keith of Regina and Denise of Lethbridge.
He is also survived by his brother George (Elaine) of Lethbridge; two sisters, Hilda Henry and Doris Rhodes also of Lethbridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Andy was predeceased by his parents Jim and Ethel Davey; his first wife Mae; two brothers: Robert and Bill (Jenny) and by his sister Emma Park.
Andy was born on Jan. 19, 1914 and raised in Michel, B.C. He proudly served his country in the Canadian Army during World War Two, and before and afterwards, worked in the coal mines in the area of Michel, B.C.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his brothers and nephews. Andy liked to reminisce and share his past experiences with people. He was proud when his grandson Keith joined the military reserves and the two would talk for hours about his years of service.
Andy was a faithful member of Holy Cross Parish and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 46. Andy had a quiet, gentle nature and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
A funeral mass was held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Fort Macleod on Thursday, March 20, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. A. Fermo officiating.
Interment in Union Cemetery.
