Gunderson, Robert Dean (Gundy)

Robert Dean (Gundy) Gunderson, beloved husband of Joyce Gunderson of Beaver Mines, Alta., passed away at home with Joyce at his side on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 at the age of 68 years after a lengthy and courageous battle with diabetes. Gundy was born Jan. 11, 1937, at Fort Macleod, to Gilbert and Agnes Gunderson. As a younger member in a household of 14 siblings, he gained both an early appreciation for family and community values, and an early reputation for his strong work ethic. This appreciation and reputation endured throughout his life as Gundy¹s commitment to family deepened and his community contributions increased. Loyal son, devoted brother, loving husband, nurturing father, adoring grandfather and great grandfather were just a few of the many rolls he admirably fulfilled. Rounding out Gundy¹s colourful character were his passion and unparalleled talents for athletics, music, fishing, cribbage, woodwork and foremost perhaps, tall-tale telling in relation to his talents. By all who knew and loved him for his kind and generous heart, Gundy will be forever fondly remembered. Besides his loving wife Joyce, Gundy is sadly missed by his children, Randy
(Cheryl) Gunderson, Brent (Winney) Gunderson, Rob (Tannis) Gunderson, Kari (Jim) Zieffle and Sarge (Maureen) Gunderson; his grandchildren, Mandy (Peter), David (Deanna), Thomas, Kimberly, Cassie, Jordan, Robbie, Sydney, Karlee, Morgan, Kristen, Scottie, Bella, Ryan and Gracie; and by his great granddaughter Sariah. Gundy is also survived by five sisters and three brothers. A memorial celebration was held at the Pincher Creek Community Hall on Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at 2 p.m
