Trodden, Gertrude (Gertie)

It is with deep sadness in our hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many, Gertrude (Gertie) Trodden, on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at the age of 80 years.
She was born to Frank and Arvada Meyer on Feb. 12, 1926, and was raised in the Twin Butte area, until she married the love of her life Eldon Trodden on Aug. 1, 1946.
After 13 moves they settled in at the Trodden homestead in Summerview, where she resided until June of 2004 when she moved into Vista Village in Pincher Creek.
She loved playing guitar, singing with the Brocket Rockets, fishing, dancing at the famous Summerview dances and the many parties that followed. She was also a lifetime member of the Hillsview Ladies Club.
Gertie will be sadly missed by all her friends and family, especially her seven children, Carol Ann (Art) Bedster, Linda (Bob) Clark, Gary (Sue) Trodden, Donna Trodden, Robert Trodden, Roy Trodden and Cindy (Jeff) Dwyer; 12 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters Bertha Fitzpatrick and Teel (Harvey) Biesel; one brother, Bill (Syb) Meyer, three sisters-in-law, Jean Meyer, Faye Trodden and Jeanine McKay; numerous nieces and nephews and our extended family which includes the Springpoint and Livingstone colonies, the Native Community as well as all the residents and staff at Vista Village.
Gertie was predeceased by her husband Eldon; her parents; her brother Paul Meyer; and her sister Edna Conalty.
Prayer service was held at Eden’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006, at 7 p.m.
Memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Pincher Creek on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at 2 p.m. with Father Eric Nelson officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.
