Clifton, Jesse Neil

On Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, our last surviving brother, Jesse Neil Clifton, passed away at the age of 79 due to congestive heart failure while swimming. Jesse and his second wife Elinor were on a tour with friends.
Jesse married Inge Hoffman when in the Canadian Armed Forces and posted in Germany. They had two sons and later two granddaughters. Inge left us in December 2002.
After 32 years of army service Jesse and his wife retired in Petawawa, Ont., a well-known Canadian Army base. In the city of Petawawa Jesse sold real estate for 10 years before again retiring.
Jesse attended school here in Fort Macleod. While in school Jesse and his brother Heaber joined the Army Cadets. Later in 1951 they joined the Royal Canadian Artillery at Currie Barracks in Calgary.
The other Clifton family members who have passed on are James and Elsie (parents), Walter, Barry, Heaber and Rita (twins), Mary, Annie, Gene and three baby boys.
Left to remember Jesse’s passing are his oldest sister, Lucy Bedingfield-Wehrfritz of Fort Macleod and youngest sister, Pearl Noordhof of Edmonton.
