Grynoch, Catherine Elizabeth

Catherine Elizabeth Grynoch died peacefully Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, as she slept in her own home attended in her last months by family and care-givers.
Catherine was born Nov. 8, 1917 in Shropshire, England and during World War Two served in the Wrens as a radar technician. She married Dr. R.L. Grynoch, a British army surgeon in 1945. She immigrated to Canada in 1955 with her two young sons to join her husband in Fort Macleod. Four years later their daughter was born.
Following the death of her husband in 1975, Catherine remained in Fort Macleod until 2005, when she moved to Edmonton to join her children and grandchildren.
Catherine had a passion for drama and acted with the Fort Players. She was an enthusiastic tennis player and loved to swim in the sea. She travelled extensively in her lifetime and was an avid bridge player until one week prior to her death.
Catherine will be greatly missed by friends and family including her children, Richard (Betty), Bob (Pamela) and Roberta (Ray); and her grandchildren Daniel (Liz), Veronica (Ryan), Tess, William and Donald.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Eden’s Funeral Home, Fort Macleod, 2424 Fifth Ave.
