MD has no comment on dissolution

The MD of Willow Creek has no official comment on the Town of Granum dissolution study.
At its Oct. 12 meeting, council reviewed a request from Alberta Municipal Affairs for any comment it may have for inclusion in the final report to the minister of municipal affairs.
A portion of the residents of Granum petitioned the minister to do a study examining the costs and effects of the town dissolving as a municipal entity and becoming a hamlet administered by the MD of Willow Creek.
A study was done, a public meeting held, and a vote taken of town residents on Monday, Sept. 26, with 138 voting to stay a town and 93 voting to become a hamlet.
“The people have spoken and that’s the way I like to see it,” Coun. Ed Neufeld said.
Council agreed it has no official comment to provide to Alberta Municipal Affairs.
