Canada geese ‘poached’ in Fort Macleod

Fort Macleod RCMP are investigating suspected poaching inside town limits.
RCMP received a complaint Dec. 29 of dead geese in a field off of 18th Street to the northeast of Eighth Avenue in Fort Macleod.
Police found five dead Canada geese near the ongoing infrastructure construction site.
“The birds had been shot and the carcasses left in a pile,” RCMP Const. Jason Smith said in a news release.
The hunting season for Canada geese ended on Dec. 21 and it is believed the birds were shot and left after this date.
The RCMP are investigating this poaching and ask that anyone with information contact Const. Jason Smith at 403-553-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
