Former F.P. Walshe Flyers relived some past glory Friday and Saturday during the annual alumni basketball tournament.
The aching muscles that resulted came in support of a good cause.
The tournament raised about $1,600 for the present Flyers basketball team.
In the tournament final Todd Gunderson’s team edged the Burbank team 60-55 to claim bragging rights for the coming year. Jordan Poytress scored 20 for the winners.
Ryan Zam and Colin Bond were named most valuable players in the championship game.
Garth Ronald was voted the tournament MVP.
In the third-place playoff, Team Derricott won a thrilling 61-58 decision against Jordan Gunderson’s squad. Logan Gregory led all scorers with 21 points.
In the playoff for fifth place Matt Bullock’s team downed Tim Whitehead’s team 80-51. Matt Bullock scored 30 in the win and Jason Jessen had 24.
In the girls’ game Lindy Hornberger’s team defeated Kim Steed’s team 42-25.
Hornberger had 15 points and Sidney Plourde scored 10 for the winners. Amanda Hofer, Kelsey Payne and Darice Conrad each had six points for Team Steed.
