William (Bill) Carr Sr. passed away suddenly in Spruce Grove on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the age of 67.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Hank and Kathleen Carr.
Bill is survived by his wife Cheryl; his children Mike (Shirley) Vanak, Shawna, Bill Jr. (Lori), Cathy (Brian) and Aaron (Paula); 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his siblings Darryl (Diane) Carr and Barbra (Doug) McCauley.
Bill was born in 1947 in Fort Macleod, where he attended school and met his life-long friend Bill Merritt.
In his early adult years Bill pursued a career in the coal mine industry in Sparwood, B.C., where he met his future wife Cheryl and later married in 1968.
After marriage Bill and Cheryl returned to Bill’s home town of Fort Macleod to begin a partnership with his father in the auto wrecking and salvage business, as well as owner/operator in the trucking industry.
Years later Bill moved to Pincher Creek and made Leduc his permanent residence in 2006.
Bill will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his outgoing personality. He will be missed by his friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Oilfield Technical Society, 2104 156 St. S.W. Edmonton.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the Leduc Linx Connect Centre in Bill’s name.
