Shopping in Fort Macleod paid off for a local woman.
Tsitsi (Itsy) Ettienne is the winner of the 2015 Shopping Spree co-ordinated by the Fort Macleod and District Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber of Commerce past president Emily McTighe on Friday afternoon shared the good news that Ettienne’s name had been drawn.
“I never win anything,” Ettienne excitedly said when she arrived to pick up $1,350 worth of gift certificates.
The Chamber of Commerce organizes the Shopping Spree as part of its efforts to encourage people to shop locally during the Christmas season.
Fort Macleod businesses offer quality merchandise at low prices as well as a personal touch for people shopping for Christmas gifts.
Customers also don’t have to struggle to find parking and battle huge crowds and long line-ups like they do in the city.
People entered the draw at participating businesses.
Theresa Miller of The Macleod Gazette called to invite businesses to participate in the Shopping Spree, and the response was positive.
Participating businesses made a cash contribution to the program and will honour the gift certificates that Ettienne received.
The gift certificates can be redeemed at the participating businesses for regular-priced merchandise.
The gift certificates cannot be redeemed for cash.
Participating Fort Macleod businesses in 2015 included A&W Restaurant, Alberta Hardware and Variety, Boutique Hair and Gifts, China City Restaurant, Crafting Memories, Davis Dodge Sales, Davis Dodge Service, Extra Foods Fort Macleod, Fort Macleod Vet Clinic, Fort Pharmacy, Hansen’s Family Foods, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Larson’s Tire, L&M Petroleum UFA, Macleod Restaurant and Lounge, Mereski Jewellers, Perfect Touch Massage and Spa, Top Shelf Liquor, Rexall Drug Store, Scougall Motors, Sinkel Floral Designs and Giftware, The Macleod Gazette, Town and Country Liquor Store, Tru Hardware Fort Macleod, V2 Fashion, Village Greenery Flowers and Gifts and Young Parkyn McNab LLP.
