Willow Creek MD council to sell former Moon River fire hall

MD of Willow Creek council will sell the building that was once the fire hall at Moon River Estates.
Council made the decision Wednesday after it reviewed correspondence from the hamlet’s residents’ association.
MD of Willow Creek chief administrative officer Cynthia Vizzutti explained the association had proposed using part of the hall for locker storage as a source of revenue.
Upon further investigation they abandoned that idea and requested about $4,000 from the MD of Willow Creek for materials to renovate the hall.
There are several tradesmen living in Moon River who could then do the work.
Coun. John Kroetsch suggested the hall be listed with a realtor for sale.
Coun. Maryanne Sandberg suggested the MD of Willow Creek provide the $4,000 and sell the association the hall for $10 and let them manage it.
Coun. Glen Alm said in his mind the association does not want the hall.
It was offered to the association for $10 as long as it renovates the hall to code, and it still wants $4,000 for renovations.
Alm also suggested selling the hall.
Council agreed to sell the hall for fair market value, with everyone voting in favour of the motion except Sandberg.
