Elgin, Gordon

Gordon Elgin passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 24, 2016, at the age of 90 years.
Gordon M. Elgin was born on June 2, 1925 at the family ranch on Olson Creek, west of Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump and spent the next 73 years of his life on the ranch.
Gordon retired to town in 1998 and lived happily across the street from the United Church for the next almost 18 years of his life.
Gordon suffered a major stroke on Monday, April 18, 2016, and passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 24, 2016, at the age of 90 years.
Gordon is survived by his sister Maudie Brosius of Wetaskiwin; his brother David Elgin of Surrey, B.C.; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and several great great little ones.
Gordon was predeceased by his father Ernest LeRoy Elgin in 1969; his mother Ethel Columbel in 1960; his eldest brother Tom Elgin; his half-sisters Ellen, Lena, Vera and Pearl (aged five); his half-brothers Ernest and Johnny; and stepmother Gladys.
Gordon will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his community, his church, and his family.
A celebration of Gordon’s life was held at Trinity United Church on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Eras Van Zyl officiating.
