Antique sale and show adds art; changes days

ASHLEY NELSON, GAZETTE CONTRIBUTOR
The Fort Macleod and District Chamber of Commerce’s 17th annual Antiques and Art Show and Sale is fast approaching — less than two weeks away!
This event, scheduled for Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16, is one of the Chamber’s largest fund-raisers that it depends on to cover operating costs.
The planning is going well and it’s shaping up to be a great show.
There are 41 vendors registered including 27 returning and 14 new ones, which will fill about three-quarters of the Fort Macleod and District Sports Centre with antiques and art.
Vendors can still register if they are interested in having a table or a booth space to sell their merchandise at this event. Contact Ashley Nelson at 403-715-2125 for more information.
Please take note of the changes:
The antique show has traditionally been on the Saturday and Sunday, and this year the event, with the addition of the arts, will be held on Friday and Saturday.
Sunday has tended to be a slower day and, after gathering and listening to feedback from their past vendors, the committee made the switch in hopes of getting even more people through the doors to see what their vendors have to offer.
Last year the antique show had nearly 900 customers attend this event, with about 70 per cent of those attendees coming from out of town.
The committee is confident that, with the change of the days and the addition of the arts, there will be even more interest and attendance at this event.
It’s going to be a fun weekend with lots of great shopping of a variety of antiques, collectibles, and fantastic artwork.
There are sure to be some awesome treasures to be found — they just don’t make things like they used to.
Be sure to mark your calendars so you don’t miss out on this opportunity to shop until you drop.
The show will be open to the public from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, June 15 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 16.
Admission is $4 (children under 12 are free) and attendees can enter to win the free draws.
Remember to bring cash as there is no longer an ATM available at the arena.
If you’d like to volunteer your time to help organizers during this event, please contact Ashley to schedule a shift.
The Chamber of Commerce would be grateful for your help.
