David, Eva

eva david

Eva David of Fort Macleod, beloved wife of Sebastian, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 19, 2018, at the age of 84 years.
Besides her loving husband, Eva is survived by her daughter Sophia; son Patrick; grandchildren Kaela, Julia and Tessa and brothers Alan and Jim.
Eva was predeceased by her parents James and Eva and her daughter Julia Caenwen.
Eva was born in Amble, Northumberland, UK and educated at Morpeth. She played violin in the Northern Youth Orchestra.
Eva began nursing at the age of 17 at a TB sanatorium in Northumberland, and was then selected to go to the Nightingale Training School at St. Thomas’s Hospital in London. She interrupted her training to work as a nanny for two years in Norway, then returned to London and finished her training to be a State Registered Nurse. She was working as an OR nurse when she met a handsome young medical student; they were married six months later.
Sebastian’s career as a trainee surgeon took them to hospitals all over England. Sophia was born in Cambridge, Julia in Southampton and Patrick in Portsmouth. Their 20th move took them to Norway House, Manitoba in April 1974 and they came to Fort Macleod in October 1975.
Eva’s social skills and her talents ensured that she quickly settled in wherever they moved. In Fort Macleod she worked in the hospital as a nurse, taught calligraphy and painting, volunteered at the Fort Museum, and was a valued Jack of all trades in the Fort Players. She was an enthusiastic golfer and bridge player.
In her Anglican Church community, as in all her roles, Eva preferred to be a worker rather than a leader, and there, especially, she will be remembered for her way of sharing love and light.
Eva may be gone but that love and light will endure in our memories.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Christ Church Anglican with Pilar Gateman officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Community Lunch Program, c/o Christ Church Anglican, P.O. Box 1117, Fort Macleod, AB, T0L 0Z0.
