One of the busiest weekends of the year is approaching in Fort Macleod.
Antiques, vintage automobiles, an 83-kilometre bike ride and a five-kilometre fund-raising walk take place the weekend of June 15-16.
And if things aren’t busy enough for some people, the Class of 2018 at F.P. Walshe school will hold its cap and gown ceremony on Friday night.
Antique sale
The Fort Macleod Chamber of Commerce will host its annual antique sale and show on Friday and Saturday, June 15-16.
More than 40 antique vendors from across Alberta will have booths at the Fort Macleod and District Sports Centre during the 17th annual sale and show.
New this year is the addition of art to the sale and show.
Also new this year are the days on which the sale and show will be held. Traditionally, the event was held on a Saturday and Sunday, but this year happens on Friday and Saturday.
The sale and show runs from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, June 15 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 16.
For information call Ashley Nelson at 403-715-2125.
A-T Walk for a Cure
Another Fort Macleod tradition continues Saturday, June 16 with the 20th annual A-T Walk for a Cure.
More than 100 people will gather at Hilltop Dairy north of Fort Macleod on Highway 811 for a five-kilometre fund-raising walk.
Money raised by the event funds research into Ataxia-Telangiectasia, a rare genetic disease that attacks children, causing progressive loss of muscle control, immune system problems, and a high rate of cancer.
Children with A-T rarely live beyond their teenage years.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. with the walk getting under way at 11 a.m.
An after party promises free hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, silent auction, pony rides and bounce houses for children.

Hope With Every Pedal
In conjunction with the A-T Walk for a Cure, there is a bike ride that gets under way with registration at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 16.
Cyclists will gather at Hilltop Dairy to cycle 83 kilometres to Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump and back.
There is also a 50-kilometre route.
Registration is $75, with all money going to A-T research.

The hottest vintage vehicles in Alberta will line up on Fort Macleod’s historic Main Street for the annual Checkmates Car Show on Saturday, June 16.
The vintage vehicles begin lining up on Main Street at 10 a.m., with the show continuing until 4 p.m.
Every vehicle that is registered will be judged for prizes, including a fan favourite.
