May 17, 1942 — May 7, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Alice Marie Jassman, age 76, of Fort Macleod, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
Alice will be sadly missed by her daughters Judy, Kathy and Lori; her grandchildren Melissa, Chalsey, Dakota and Megan; and her great grandchildren Jaxon, Kenley and Jaydee. Alice is also survived by her sisters, Agnes, Edna Mae, Pat and Linda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Alice was predeceased by her parents Elsworth (Cap) and Ida Russell and her brother Allan Russell. In her younger years, our mother loved to get “all dolled up” and go dancing — she’d never pass up an opportunity to kick up her heels on the dance floor. She also loved to go camping, especially if it was a family camp-out, and was an avid rodeo fan, taking in as many local rodeos as she could.
Alice also took great pride in her yard and flower beds, in which she toiled endlessly from spring to fall. Her favourite thing, however, was sitting down for a “mean” game of Canasta, a card game that all members of our family were required to learn and play, and, “Yes, Mom, you play like a wiener, and you are so a Pile Hog!” We wish to thank Dr. Beekman, the Fort Macleod Home Care nurses and all of the staff at the Community Support Beds (Fort Macleod) for the exemplary care given to our mother during her last days, as well as their compassion and support to her family during this difficult time.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019, at Trinity United Church, 220 20th St., Fort Macleod. Interment was in Granum Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Rd. N.E., Calgary, T2E 9Z9, or to the Fort Macleod Community Support Beds, P.O. Box 520, Fort Macleod, T0L 0Z0. Condolences may be sent through www.edensfuneralhome.com.
