Mr. Arnold St. George, beloved husband of Joan
St. George, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday,
Feb. 21, 2008, at the age of 86 years.
Besides his wife of 65 years, Joan, he is also lovingly remembered
by his son, Bill (Sharon); daughter, Wendy (Rob); granddaughter, Kim;
sisters, Irene Graham, Cassilda Butler and Maxine Northey along with their
families as well as friends.
Arnold grew up in Fort Macleod and served in the army overseas
during World War Two. He married Joan (nee Robinson) in England in 1943 and
after six years he returned to Canada and his war bride followed him.
Upon his return, he then served in the RCAF. The family travelled
across Canada and a highlight was when Arnold and family was sent to 3 Wing
Air base in Germany for four years. There are many cherished memories of
family holidays spent throughout Europe. Arnold didn’t like driving in large
cities so the family would explore many interesting unknown places. After
his retirement from the Air force, he then worked as a civilian at Ralston,
Alberta with (BATUS) the British Army.
Arnold was a truly gentle man. His life was dedicated to loving and
caring for his family. He loved animals and rescued and cared for many pets
over the years. He will be deeply missed and his memory cherished. Many
thanks to Dr. Ahmad, the nurses and staff at the Medicine Hat Renal Unit and
to Dr. Best, the nurses and staff on 6-West of the Medicine Hat Regional
Hospital.
In honour of Arnold’s life, a gathering of family and friends will
be held at a later date and will be announced at that time. Condolences may
be forwarded through
