Gerry Olson — 1932-2003


Mary Geraldine (Gerry) Olson passed away suddenly in Calgary on Monday, March 31, 2003 at the age of 71 years.
Gerry was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold in January 2003.
She is survived by her five sons, Keith (Heather), Darcy (Cathy), Rodney, Brian (Tammy) and Alan (Simone); her four daughters, Lori (Murray), Barbara, Leann (Karl) and Cynthia (Al); 24 grandchildren; one great grandchild; her sister Vada (Michael); and one aunt Ruth Bennett.
Gerry was also predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Gerry was born in Magrath on Dec. 21, 1931. After completing Grade 11, she worked for two years in the Woolen Mills of Magrath and three years as an AGT operator. Gerry spent much time with her sister Marcia and loved to square dance.
On Dec. 31, 1954 Gerry married Harold Sumner Olson in Lethbridge. She became a devoted wife and loving mother. In 1957 Gerry and Harold moved to Fort Macleod where they raised their family and resided until their passing.
The funeral service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fort Macleod, on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 11 a.m. with Bishop Brian Waldie officiating. Interment followed in the Magrath Cemetery.
A viewing took place at the church from 10:15 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Gerry’s memory to the MS Society or to The Canadian Cancer Society, c/o the Fort Macleod drug stores.
