Ted Tolley — 1915-2003 |

Philip Edward (Ted) Tolley, long-time resident of Fort Macleod, passed away at Lethbridge Extendicare after a courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at the age of 88 years. Ted will be sadly missed by his children, Judith Anne (Al) Gedcke of Moyie, B.C., Philip Howard (Diane) Tolley of Calgary, Melford Dwight Tolley of Calgary and Kevan (Colleen) Tolley of Lethbridge; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his sister Jean Hart of Lethbridge and by his dear friend and companion Frances Seaman of Lethbridge and her family. Ted was predeceased by his wife Esther; his parents; his half-brother Nathan Wood; his half-sister Jessie (Wood) Coburn; his four brothers, Harold, Rockford, Orl and Ivan and by his sister Dorothy Hornberger. Ted was a farmer in the Fort Macleod area for many years. When he sold the farm, he went into the car wash and drycleaning business, ending up in the Crowsnest Pass. He retired to Fort Macleod in 1978, and spent numerous winters in Arizona. Dad was dearly loved by all who came to know his gentle nature and sense of humour. He loved being with people, whether it was through card games, music or dancing. Ted was known as the “life of the party.” The funeral service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fort Macleod, on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at 11:30 a.m.with Bishop John Whitehead officiating. Those who wished to do so, met with the family in the Relief Society room from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. prior to the service. Interment in Union Cemetery. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made in Ted’s memory to STARS Air Ambulance, 1441 Aviation Park N.E., Box 570, Calgary, Alta. T2E 9Z9.
