Mrs. Kathleen
Brandley beloved wife of the late Noel Brandley passed away at the
Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Monday, July 18, 2006, at the age of 89
years.
Kathleen is survived by her sisters Judith Nelson and Enid Seely;
brother Phil Proctor; nine children, Jaqueline (Lynn) Swenson of Townsend,
Mont., Carman (Wallace) Hamilton of Provo, Utah, Theodore (Beverly) Brandley
of Atlanta, Georgia, Virginia (Terry) Grinevitch of Bellevue, Alta., Matthew
(Cathy) Brandley of Rigby, Idaho, Barbara Engel of Lethbridge, Timothy
(Gwen) Brandley of Ottawa, Ont., Kathleen Brandley of Fort Macleod, Alberta
and Judith Brandley of Lethbridge, Alberta; 34 grandchildren and numerous
great and great-great grandchildren.
Kathleen was born in Mount Pleasant, Utah on April 23, 1917, and
immigrated to Canada in 1918 where she lived in Stirling, Alta. She had the
privilege of being a part of the first class in Stirling to complete Grade
12.
She received her teaching certificate from Calgary Normal School in
the fall of 1934. She taught in both Stirling and Edmonton before marrying
Noel Brandley in 1946. She then spent wonderful years having and raising her
children with Noel, as well as running a ranch, and then returned to
teaching at W.A. Day elementary school in Fort Macleod until her retirement
in 1982.
Kathleen was a great connoisseur of music, art, and books who
painted in her spare time, as well as a valuable member of the community and
a ̉great friend of children.Ó
She never thought twice about helping those who needed it or
donating her time to worthy causes.
Funeral services were held at Eden's Funeral Home in Fort Macleod
on Saturday, July 22, 2006, beginning with a viewing and time to meet the
family at 1 p.m., followed by a short program and then a graveside service.
