Wayne Louis Maki passed away suddenly at the
Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, at the age of 59
years, surrounded by several family members and close friend Stan Johnson.
Beloved by his nieces and nephews Jennifer and Carl Bergey,
Christopher Kardas, Kathryn, Kristine and Kassandra Dupuis and Desirae Maki.
Wayne is survived by his brothers and sisters Trevor (Roberta) of Calgary,
Pam Kardas (Stan) and Reginald of Timmins, Ont., Valerie Bergey (Glen) of
Prince George, B.C., Phyllis Dupuis (Ken) of Calgary and Cheslie of Calgary.
Wayne is also survived by his aunt Jeanette (Derek) Taylor and
cousin Carolyne Taylor of the U.K., Margaret Myllynen Sudbury, Ont. and
Lauri Myllynen of Espanola, Ont. and many other relatives and friends.
Wayne had found much love with his new companion Alice Bartoo of
Washington State.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Helen Maki, nephew
Raymond Alexander Bergey, aunt Helmi Hadath of Vancouver, B.C., aunt Lillian
Myllynen of Sudbury, Ont., aunt Aili Hill of Timmins, Ont., Fanny Ion of
Winnipeg and Uncle Walter Maki of Vancouver, B.C.
Wayne was born in Timmins, Ont. on July 7, 1947. After graduating
from Timmins High and Vocational School in 1964, Wayne attended the
University of Waterloo in Windsor Ont.
Wayne settled in Calgary and lived there for over 35 years. During
this time Wayne was communications manager at Checker Cabs and following
that worked with Global Dispatch Technologies Inc. for several years prior
to his retirement.
Wayne retired to Fort Macleod in April of 2005 where he made many
new friends. Wayne was the current secretary for the Canadian Taxi
Association and a member of the Fort Macleod Community Association.
Wayne was an avid sports enthusiast. He had a passion for
traveling, chess and the computer.
Wayne will be missed for his keen insight and discussions about
politics, and the stock market with his friends at the Motley Fool Site and
other investment sites.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for visitation at
Mountain View Funeral Home in Calgary on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, from 1-4
p.m. A celebration of Wayne's life will be held in the Chapel of Mountain
View Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow
at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

donation in Wayne's memory may be made to the Alberta Children's Hospital
(Foundation Office No. 300, 1021 - 10th Ave. S.W., Calgary, T2R 0B7).
