Annie Vos, beloved wife of the late Wopko (Co)
Vos of Fort Macleod, passed away in Lethbridge on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007,
at the age of 89 years.
Annie is lovingly remembered and will be greatly missed by her
daughters Nellie (Michael) Scanlan of Perth, Australia and Corrie (Stan)
Heller of Lethbridge; and by her son Clarence of Lethbridge.
She was a special grandmother to David, Victoria and Jillian
Scanlan and Jamin and Jalyce Heller. She will always hold a special place in
the hearts of her grandchildren.
Annie was predeceased by her husband Co; her sisters Hilda Genesis
and Grace Smit; and by her brother Tom Veenkamp.
Annie was born on Dec. 17, 1917, near Granum. She married Wopko
(Co) Vos in 1952 and together they farmed in the Granum area for several
years.
In 1967 they moved to Fort Macleod, owning and operating the
Foothills Motel until 1974. They continued to be involved in farming in the
area throughout their lives.
Annie was a faithful member of the Granum Christian Reformed Church
and participated in numerous church societies and functions over the years.
Her favourite activities included trips to Waterton with her family and
gatherings with her family and friends.
She willingly spent countless hours with her grandchildren playing
board games and cooking their favorites. The grandchildren all have their
own special memories of time spent with Gramma Annie.
Annie was blessed to be able to stay in her own home and continue
to be active in her church community following the passing of her husband Co
in June 1998, thanks to the support of her neighbours, family and friends.
A graveside service was held at the Granum Christian Reformed
Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service
at the Granum Christian Reformed Church at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Annie's
memory to a charity of your choice.
