Edith May Whipple passed away peacefully with
her family around her, at Vista Village on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007.
Edith was born Feb. 28, 1921 in Winnipeg, Man. to Perry and May
Coldwell. She was the eldest of six children, and attended school in
Winnipeg and Brandon.
In 1942 she married the love of her life, Norman, and in 1944 moved
west to Fort Macleod then later in 1949 came to Pincher Creek. They farmed
east of Pincher from 1949 to 1978 when they retired to town.
Edith was a very active member of the United Church, a Canadian
Girls In Training leader, president and member of United Church Women for
many years, as well as a member and Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge of
Pincher Creek and the Grand Lodge of Alberta.
After retiring from the farm she and Norm travelled extensively in
their motorhome. Then as their health began to fail they moved to Crestview
Lodge and later to Vista Village.
Edith (Ede) was predeceased by her parents; her brother Don; sister
Beth and daughters Valerie and Margery; her grandson Glen Bonertz; and
husband Norman.
She is survived by Ted (Betty), Nonee (Bob) Bonertz, Perry
(Bernice), and Saralyn; 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
We will all miss you Mum, Nana and Great Nana ‹ your smile and your
laugh. A funeral service was held at the Pincher Creek United Church, Pastor
Brent Woodard officiating with a luncheon following.
Interment took place prior to the funeral, with Pastor Richard
Williams officiating.
