Gordon Johnson died peacefully after a lengthy
illness at Vista Village in Pincher Creek on Monday, Nov. 26, 2007.
He is lovingly remembered by Rose, his wife of 61 years; his
daughter Susan Calvez and family; his sons Keith (Donna), Ed (Maria), Cody
(Muriel) and their families.
Gordon was predeceased by his son Tim Johnson, son-in-law Andre
Calvez, daughter-in-law Leona Johnson, and his grandson Darcy Johnson.
Gordon will be missed by his brother George (Pam) and numerous
cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dad's lifelong work was with Johnson Brothers Sawmills and Chief
Mountain Realty. He enjoyed serving as mayor of Cowley and working with many
advisory boards in Pincher Creek and the Piikani Nation.
In later years he indulged his passions for the outdoors by raising
his beloved buffalo and Highland cattle and stocking the pond with trout for
his grandchildren.
Dad was a kind, caring man who loved people. He was happiest when
he was hosting family and friends around the barbecue at home, at the family
cabin or around the campfire.
He loved every season, whether it be the first crocus in the
spring, hunting and fishing or finding the perfect Christmas tree.
His greatest gift to his children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren is that he taught us to love these things too. This legacy
will continue to live on in the lives he has touched.
A celebration of Gordon's life will take place at the Pincher Creek
United Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be directed to The Good
Samaritan Society, c/o Vista Village, Box 1510, Pincher Creek, Alta., T0K
