Hank William Scholten, beloved husband of Cora
of Fort Macleod, passed away in Lethbridge on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at
the age of 71 years.
Hank was born in Aalten, the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada
with his parents and 11 siblings in 1948.
He and Cora married in 1964 and they eventually made their home in
Fort Macleod.
Hank enjoyed farming, operating a custom business, farming
independently, working for Alberta Hail and Crop and working for others. His
humour and positive outlook impacted all those around him.
His greatest achievements were family, farming and faith. Hank was
a compassionate and determined man, leaving many family and friends to mourn
his passing.
Hank is survived by his wife Cora; his two daughters, Carla (Doug)
Zacharias and Kathy (Ron) VanderMeer; five granddaughters, Regan, Kalyan,
Lindsay, Cassandra and Lauren; 10 brothers and sisters, Herman (Corrie)
Scholten, Gerhard (Dicky) Scholten, Jo (Klaas) VanderVeen, Dirk (Hantzen)
Scholten, Riek Vanderhoek, Bill (Marjan) Scholten, Diny (George) DeVries,
Wilma (Jerry) Kuipers, Ina (Dick) Stronks and Roelof (Diny) Scholten;
sister-in-law Sylvia Scholten; and by numerous nieces, nephews and extended
family.
Hank was predeceased by his parents, a brother and several nieces
and nephews.
Graveside service was held at the Granum Christian Reformed
Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at 1 p.m. and was followed by a
funeral service at the Granum Christian Reformed Church at 2 p.m.
