Karen Margarette (Knowles) Ragan or "K" as she
was known to many, passed away peacefully and with dignity at her home in
Fort Macleod on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, with her family at her side.
Karen's strength and determination allowed her to survive a 15-year
battle with a brain tumor. The pain and the suffering she endured was kept
inside. When asked how she was doing, her response was, "I'm doing just
fine."
"Never say never" was one of her favourite sayings. To do anything
but her best was unacceptable to Karen. "K" was an inspiration to all who
knew her. Her cheerfulness, her friendliness and courage were trademarks of
her character.
She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her and she will be
missed terribly by her family and friends.
Karen was predeceased by her father Albert Knowles Sr. and by her
stepfather Boyd Loyst.
Karen is survived by her mother Louise Loyst of Fort Macleod; her
husband Steve; her children, Sandy Ferguson of Blackfalds and Aaron and Lisa
Ragan of Lethbridge; her sister Chris Byers of Stettler; her brothers, Mike
Knowles of Lethbridge and Barry Loyst of Fort Macleod; her stepbrother
Albert Knowles of Kamloops, B.C.; six grandchildren and by special friends
Kyle and Gloria Anderson of Grinrod, B.C., Cindy Gray of Fort Macleod and
Chris Trotter of Lethbridge.
Funeral service will be held to celebrate Karen's life at Christ
Church Anglican, Fort Macleod, on Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at 10 a.m. with
Rev. Noel Wygiera officiating.
Interment in Union Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Karen's memory to the Tom Baker
Centre, 1331 29th St. N.W., Calgary, T2N 4N2.
