Our family chain is broken and nothing seems
the same but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
Larry Brian Allison passed away peacefully at home with his family
by his side on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at the age of 57.
Larry will be lovingly remembered, and sadly missed by his wife of
32 years, Myrna (Needham); loving father of Cory of Elkford, B.C., and Mark
and Craig of Calgary.
Larry also leaves behind brothers, Gary (Jean) of Claresholm and
David of Grande Prairie; sisters, Judy Norgard, and Jeannie Allison/Neuman,
both of Edmonton, and Susan Allison/Wasylchuk, of Grande Prairie; brothers-
and sisters-in-law, Cal (Sharon) Needham of Didsbury, Gloria (Bill) Tanner
of Wasa, B.C., Gayle Bell (Ron) of Cranbrook, B.C., Ralph Needham of
Lethbridge, Don (Karen) Needham of Claresholm, Fran Allison of Lethbridge,
Bob (Lynn) Needham of Red Deer and Kevin (Shelley) Needham, Stavely, as well
as numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was predeceased by his father John; mother Florence; in-laws
Calvin and Myrtle Needham; brother Cliff; sister-in-law Jenny; and
brothers-in-law Wayne Holmen and Edward Norgard.
Larry attended school in Claresholm before moving to Calgary and
working at Sureway Metal Systems. In 1981, he and Mryna moved back to
Claresholm where he obtained a position with Dow Chemicals and then with
Trus Joist (Weyerhauser) for 25 years as a millright.
Larry took great pride in his work and devoted himself to his job
and family. His passion was sports and he was very involved with baseball
and hockey, both as a player and coach. Larry coached hockey for several
years and truly devoted himself to teaching the fundamentals of the game and
taking his team to hockey provincials.
Larry could fix just about anything mechanical, from machinery to
cars. You could always find Larry with his head stuck under a hood, as he
involved himself in car demolition derbies, car races, or engine overhauls.
Larry was a quiet and proud man who never afforded himself many
luxuries. He didn't need a big fancy car, new house or far-away trips, as he
was always putting his family first and he would rather fix it up than buy
new and he was just content to be at home or in his garage.
These were the very good qualities about Larry, just a true friend
and a good honest man who left us too soon.
