Robert G. Welsh— 1921 - 2007

   It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert G. Welsh, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007.
   Bob, or Gramps as he liked to call himself, was born at Pincher Creek on Nov. 14, 1921 and the Welsh family later moved to the Newlands area north of Lethbridge.
   After returning in 1945 from four years of active duty with the Royal Canadian Navy, Bob worked in a hardware store until he was able to buy his own farm in the Park Lake area.
   In 1960 Bob and his family moved to Fort Macleod and established Blackacre Farms, which he operated until his retirement, although Bob never really retired. Except for the years when Bob and MaryBelle wintered in Desert Hot Spring with family and friends, he was at the farm virtually every day until his passing.
   Bob is survived by his beloved wife MaryBelle; his children, Barbara (Trevor) Norlin, Barry (Cindy) Welsh, Dan Justik, Joanne (Marty) Michaud and Bonnie (Joe) Ackerman; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; his siblings, Barney (Julie), John (Margaret), Larry (Sharlene) and Gerry (Floyd) Domier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   Bob was predeceased by Ed Welsh (Bella), Marie Marsden (Charlie) and Jean Anderson (Anton).
   Gramps left us a strong sense of family, a dedicated work ethic, a love for home, and the importance of a sense of humour. He placed a value on being dependable and never failed to lend a helping hand. We will miss him dearly.
   A memorial services was held at Trinity United Church, 220 20th St., Fort Macleod, on Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Peter Walker officiating.
