Wallace Lloyd Orr, beloved husband of Myrtle
Marjorie Seely Orr of Fort Macleod, passed away in Fort Macleod on Monday,
Nov. 5, 2007, at the age of 89 years.
He was an incredible father to Rowena Francis Gardner deceased
(Wayne) of Utah, Carmen Adair Toth (Jim) of Fort Macleod, and Quinn Lindsey
Orr (Susan) of Farmington, Utah. He has 14 grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren.
Wallace is survived by his wonderful wife, Marjorie Orr, and
siblings Thelma Redmond, June Christensen, Bessie Dudley, and Elaine Orr.
He was predeceased by his parents Margaret Taylor Orr and William
Ernest Orr, and brothers Glenn, Paul, Rodney, and Grant.
Wallace spent his life in Orton. During World War Two he served his
country as a navigator in England. After the war, he married Marjorie and
they began farming. In the swine industry he excelled. His farm had the
first litter of pigs to be born from frozen semen in Canada, and he lectured
on this as far away as Texas A&M University and at seminars in Mexico.
He has raised strawberries, chokecherries, raspberries, saskatoons
and pie cherries that many have enjoyed. Rows of trees line his fields and
the yards of his neighbors.
His artwork filled his winter months, and of course music was
always with him. He played banjo, piano, organ, accordion, mandolin, and
violin, and passed that love on to his family.
Friends met with the family at noon on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, in
the Fort Macleod LDS Stake Centre (643-20th St., Fort Macleod.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Interment followed in the Orton
Cemetery. Eden's Funeral Home, Fort Macleod, in care of arrangements. |
