Arno Paul Franz Moranz passed away in
Fort Macleod after a long illness Tuesday, 20 May.
Arno was born Dec. 23, 1930, in Freie Stadt Danzig on the Baltic
Sea, and immigrated to Canada in 1951.
He was a cowboy at Big Coulee Ranch and worked at a number of jobs
throughout his life in southern Alberta, retiring in 1997 from 20 years with
Fort Macleod Public Works.
Arno enjoyed and excelled at many things over the years including
hunting and fishing, gardening and photography. He was an accomplished
target shooter and a private pilot.
Arno loved to hike and after he retired many residents will
remember seeing him making his rounds as he walked 16 kilometers a day for
the next 10 years in all kinds of weather, stopping to feed homeless cats
along the way.
Arno was predeceased by his father Paul, mother Margaret and
brother Reinhold.
He is survived by his sister Karin and brother Horst, his wife of
53 years Antonie, sons Trent and Norman (Norton), and grandchildren Ryland
and Gillian.
Cremation. There are no plans for a memorial, as per Arno’s wishes.
