After graduating from high school, she worked
in Regina but returned to Fort Macleod during the war to marry Jens who was
stationed there with the RCAF. They were a perfect match; they loved to go
to dances and play cards with their friends.
Gertie and Jens moved to Beverly in Edmonton, where they lived for
over 50 years in the same house. Gertie was involved with many aspects of
community life, loved meeting people and especially loved small children and
babies.
Most of all, Gertie will be remembered for the nurturing and caring
home she maintained for Jens and their boys. Love, peace and joy were her
constant companions. We will all miss her gentle presence.
A celebration of life will be held in Edmonton and in Fort Macleod.
The date and location will be announced at a later date. |
