It is with great sadness we
announce the peaceful passing of James (Jim) Gordon Collar, beloved
husband of Louise Collar of Fort Macleod, devoted father of Darin
(Leanne) Collar and proud grandfather of Tristan and Branden all of
Lethbridge.
Jim is also survived by one brother Albert E. Collar of Edmonton; a
sister-in-law, Mrs. Gertrude Collar of Fort Macleod; and his aunt Mrs.
E. (Lois) Hahn of Edmonton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and
nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Albert G. and Henrietta Collar;
four brothers, Joe, Bill, Mick and Walter; two sisters and their
husbands, Louise (John), Rosaine and Elsie (Edgar) Skelding; four
sisters-in-law, Myrtle, Mabel, Marie and Loraine; a niece, Carrol
Burrows; and two nephews, Tommy and Gary Collar.
Jim was also predeceased by his in-laws George (Sadie) Pearson of
Fort Macleod; his brother-in-law and wife George E. (Jessie) Pearson of
Pincher Creek; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Ethel Moughan
of Lethbridge, Gladys (George) Milley and Florence Day of Fort Macleod;
and by one niece, Mrs. W. (Gloria) Metzler of Pincher Creek. Jim was
born on Jan. 27, 1931 at Fort Macleod. He attended school at Hazelmere
School and Macleod high school before farming with his father south of
Fort Macleod. |

In 1953 Jim married Louise Pearson and they
built their home in Fort Macleod. Jim worked for the post office for a short
time before joining Alberta Transportation. He loved his occupation and
continued on to his retirement, building parts of all kinds both at work and
at home. Jim was the local skate sharpener for many years. Jim’s other hobby
was music. He played the guitar and accordion and enjoyed being the
guitarist for Centennial Singers.
While health permitted Jim attended Christ Church Anglican
and for many years was a member of Alberta Lodge No. 3 A.F. & A.M.A
visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at
Eden’s Funeral Home, Fort Macleod.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 29,
2009, at Christ Church Anglican, 320 21st St., Fort Macleod, with Canon
James Robinson, officiating. Cremation to follow.
