It is with great sadness we
announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend
Josie Smiley.
Josie passed away at the Fort Macleod Care Facility on Thursday,
Aug. 13, 2009, at the age of 70 years.
Josie is survived by her loving husband Ernie; daughters Sheila,
Kim (Darrell), Anita (Alex), and Nadine; her son Dean (Elizabeth); and
her grandchildren Maxim, Tahlia, Mackayala, Morgan and Damian. She also
leaves behind a sister, Agnes, and three brothers, Harry, Tom, Ralph.
Josie was predeceased by her son Bob; parents Joe and Maggie Feser; four
brothers, Hubert, Leo, Edward and Allen; and four sisters, Florence,
Delores, Catherine and Beatrice.
Josie’s family and friends were a very important part of her life.
She had a special devotion to her faith.
Her hobbies and interests were numerous. She was involved with the
Royal Purple Auxiliary for over 35 years. She spent endless days
fishing, camping, and cultivating her rose gardens. Cooking and
entertaining for family and friends was for her a complete joy and
everyone would know and hear about her lifetime interest with
collectables and antiques. Prayers were held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug.
18, 2009, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Macleod.
A funeral mass was celebrated the following day, Wednesday, Aug. 19
at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Benedicto Marino, celebrant. Memorial
donations may be made to the Fort Macleod Health Centre, 744 26th St.,
