Wilhelmina (Wilma) Vanee of
Fort Macleod, beloved wife of Willem (Bill) Van Driesten, passed away
peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2010, after a lengthy battle with
cancer.
Wilma had a zest for life that was contagious, and her strength and
courage is an inspiration to us all. Wilma always put others before
herself, and lived for her family and friends. She was a wonderful cook
and homemaker, and made Sunday suppers a ritual get-together for her six
children and 15 grandchildren. Wilma’s home was a revolving door of
company. She greeted everyone with a welcoming smile, a fresh pot of
coffee, and a listening ear. Her family was her pride and joy, and she
was ours.
Wilma had a love for gardening and flowers, and spent much time
tending to her beautiful yard. When she wasn’t gardening, she was busy
whipping up something delicious in her kitchen. Hard work was nothing
new to Wilma. She met all challenges in life with her strong will and
graceful ease. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, oma, sister,
aunt and friend.
Wilma was predeceased by her infant daughter Ledona; brothers
Gerrit and Joe Vanee; parents Ray Vanee and Faye Van Wessel; and
brother-in-law Maas Van Driesten. |
