Macleod makes good impression |

The four MLAs who
will decide where the police college will be built came away
impressed with Fort Macleod.
Ivan Strang, Mary Anne Jablonski, Fred Lindsay and Len Mitzel made
Fort Macleod the first stop Tuesday on their tour of the four
finalists.
"This is one of the diamonds in the rough we don't hear enough
about in Alberta," Jablonski said of Fort Macleod. "You've
almost convinced me I should move here. . . You should be very
proud."
Jablonski made her comments during a reception in council chambers,
where members of the police college task force made
presentations to the MLAs.
From Fort Macleod the MLAs went on to visit Red Deer County,
Camrose and Lac La Biche, which also made the short list.
Mitzel, who is MLA for Medicine Hat-Cypress, said he has been
through Fort Macleod many times and welcomed the chance to learn
more about the town.
Mitzel said he is pleased to see the spirit is alive in Fort
Macleod to keep the history of the North West Mounted Police 'a
personal favourite of his' alive and well. |
