June 15, 2005 - The office of the Solicitor General issues a request for expression of interest to 300 Alberta communities.

Aug. 26, 2005 - Closing date for expression of interest. Thirty Alberta communities, including Fort Macleod, respond.

Oct. 14, 2005 - Solicitor General's department issues a request for proposals for procurement of at least 130 hectares of land.

Oct. 24 - Fort Macleod town council strikes an ad hoc police college task force.

Nov. 29 - A rally in support of the police college bid is held on Main Street just prior to the annual Santa Claus Parade.

Dec. 12, 2005 - Town council amends its land use by-law and rezones 320 acres in the southeast corner of town as police college direct control, with development of a police college the only permitted use.

Dec. 15, 2005 - Thirty communities, including Fort Macleod, respond to request for proposals for land procurement.

January 1, 2006 - The Town of Fort Macleod asks residents to send letters of support for the town's bid to Premier Ralph Klein and Livingstone-Macleod MLA Dave Coutts.

March 10, 2006 - The Solicitor General's department postpones to May 15 a decision on the selection of a site for the college.

June 12, 2006 - The Solicitor General's department postpones to July 15 a decision on the selection of a site for the college.

July 6, 2006 - A rally in support of the Fort Macleod bid is held during council's open house. A group photograph of the rally is delivered to Solicitor General Harvey Cenaiko and Premier Ralph Klein.

July 14, 2006 - Fort Macleod, Red Deer County, Camrose and Lac La Biche are announced as finalists.

July 25, 2006 - Four-member MLA review committee visits Fort Macleod, Red Deer County, Camrose and Lac La Biche.

July/August, 2006 - MLA committee recommends police college site to Solicitor General Harvey Cenaiko.

July/August, 2006 - Solicitor General Harvey Cenaiko announces which site is selected.
