South Country Fair is one of the top small music festivals

South Country Fair takes pride that its line-up offers something for everyone.

One of the leading small music festivals in western Canada, South Country Fair returns July 16-19 at Fort Macleod Fish and Game Park. “I try hard as artistic director — because I’m very eclectic in my own tastes — that every person from every walk of life will find something they like here,” artistic director Maureen Chambers said.

The 2009 line-up reflects that desire to offer a wide variety of music with performers such as Jenny Whiteley, Dustin Bentall, Jen Paches, Cumako, United Steel Workers of Montreal, Screamin’ Jimmys, The Darby and Joan Club, the Hank and Lilly Show, Scott Nolan, Gordie Tentrees and the Secretaries scheduled.

Other performers include Cam Penner and the Gravel Road, Tarhana, Erin Ross, Andrea Ramolo, The Swiftys, Woodpigeon, Bomba, Scott Cook, Jah Youssouf and The Woodchoppers Association, Mark Sadlier Brown, David Ross Macdonald and Colleen Brown.

The music is almost non-stop at South Country Fair, with musicians performing on two stages throughout the weekend.

Added features at South Country Fair are Kidz’ Kountry, the Fair Mall and an awareness tent.
