Spring breaks out with classic car show

Spring breaks out in classic style in Fort Macleod during an annual vintage automobile show.

The Spring Breakout is hosted in mid-April by the Southern Alberta Drag Racing Association.

Spring Breakout has a special place in the hearts of vintage and custom automobile enthusiasts because it is the first outdoor show of the season. Hundreds of vintage, classic and custom vehicles line Main Street during Spring Breakout. Classic songs from the 1950s and ’60s provide fitting background music.

Hundreds of people flock to Main Street to view the beautiful vehicles, which come from across Alberta, B.C. Saskatchewan and Montana. The Spring Breakout is also supported by Fort Macleod businesses, which organize entertainment, sales and other activities.

Spring Breakout wraps up with a dance at the community hall. Many car owners come for Spring Breakout, stay overnight and then head to Calgary for the big show hosted by the Nifty Fifties Car Club. For information about the 2010 Spring Breakout call 403-553-0021.
