Alberta Soclitor General Harvey Cenaiko and Livingstone-Macleod MLA Dave Coutts announced in August 2006 that Fort Macleod had been chosen as the site of the Alberta Police and Peace Officer Training Centre.
The provincial government announced in August 2006 that it would build the Alberta Police and Peace Officer Training Centre in Fort Macleod.
That announcement followed an extensive selection process that began with the province’s call for expressions of interest.
Fort Macleod’s bid, which included a DVD, brochure, public events and a community rally, topped every other community in Alberta.
The plan for the police college in 2006 was to train about 1,400 police and peace officer recruits each year, creating 75 to 100 jobs in Fort Macleod.
This section contains The Macleod Gazette’s ongoing coverage of the police college.
