Violet Jack of Cranbrook, B.C. passed away on Friday, July 19, 2002 with her daughter holding her hand.
Violet Eunice Owen was born Aug. 11, 1912, in Bradford, Yorkshire England.
She loved working in her yard and enjoyed her two lodges, the Order of the Royal Purple and the Rebekah Assembly of Alberta while living in Fort Macleod.
In 1955 she moved to Reno, Nevada with her husband where they purchased a business block and ran the attached burger stand themselves. Her home-made ice cream was known all over Reno.
She was head cashier in the Primmadonna Casino for 15 of the 23 years she spent in Reno.
She is survived by her only daughter, Beverley (Chick) Marlow of Cranbrook, B.C.; one grandson, Trace Marlow; one granddaughter, Heather Henry; three great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Violet was predeceased by her first husband Gerald Owen in 1978, one granddaughter and two grandsons and her only brother, Donald Redshaw in the Second World War.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 23, 2002 in Cranbrook.
She will be missed.
