Kyllo, Christie

Christie Marie (Barr) Kyllo passed away at Fort Macleod Extendicare on Dec. 25, 2002, in her 95th year.
The first of the Barr family to be born in Alberta to Delmar and Ellen Barr was Christie Marie at the Ardenville homestead on Sept. 20, 1908. Christie received her schooling at Ardenville.
She married Arthur Kyllo from Pincher Creek in 1926 and from this union two sons, Roy and Gordon, were born. Art and Christie worked in the Macleod area before moving to Pleasant Valley and then to manage the Buckhorn Guest Ranch.
Then, wanting a place of their own, they bought the home farm on Chipman Creek, where they resided until retiring to Pincher Creek. Christie worked at the Pincher Creek post office, in Waterton Lakes, and for several years at the Bunny Bar.
Christie was a dedicated member of the Rebekah Lodge and both she and Art received their 50-year jewels.
Failing health brought Christie back to Fort Macleod to Extendicare in 1994 where she resided until her passing.
Christie was the “Bell of the Ball” at the 10th Barr reunion in August of 2002.
Christie is survived by her daughter-in-law Audrey Kyllo; eight grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren; her brother-in-law Pat Schnarr and numerous nieces and nephews.
