Ransom, Isobel

Isobel (Gray) Ransom passed away Dec. 26, 2002, at the High River Hospital in the presence of her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Isobel was born June 23, 1921, to Gordon and Sadie Gray and was part of a large pioneering family of 12 children. She was raised south of Granum on Willow Creek. She attended Mud Lake and Daley Creek schools in that region.
In order to continue her education she moved to Nanton to live with her aunt and uncle, Art and Ethel Cummings. This is where she met and later married Wid Ransom on April 7, 1944. Wid and Isobel farmed and ranched west of Nanton where they raised their two children, Warren and Helen.
Isobel enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She was a caring and generous woman who will be deeply missed.
Isobel was widowed in 1989 and is survived by her son Warren Ransom and daughter Helen (Delbert) Edey; her grandchildren Shane Ransom, Shama Ransom, Deanna (Brad) Sicotte, Travis Edey, Roxy Edey; and her two great grandchildren Joshua Piche and Sydney Sicotte.
Also surviving are five siblings, Ethel (Bob) Jackman, Beth Gillard, Kay (Ken) Bartlett, Margaret (Dwayne) Archibald and Larry (Doreen) Gray; and three sisters-in-law, Joyce Gray, Mary Gray and Clara Fowler.
Her brothers Claude (infant), Fred, Bert, Bill, Leonord, Bob and Roy predeceased her.
A memorial service was held at the Nanton-Parkland United Church on Monday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Kim Heath officiating.
Interment of Isobel’s cremated remains took place in the family plot at Nanton Cemetery.
