Caruthers, Lloyd

Lloyd Carruthers passed away in the Alice Keith Nursing Home in Vermilion on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the age of 93 years.
He was born in Sperling, Man. In the spring of 1917 the family moved to a farm south of Fort Macleod.
Lloyd purchased his own farm in 1931 where he met and married Muriel Lancaster on July 15, 1936. They also lived in the Cardston area, then Inuvik, NWT before retiring to Salmon Arm, B.C., then to the Vermilion area where Lloyd lived until his passing.
Lloyd will be lovingly remembered and missed more than words can say by his children, Jean (Doug) Poile of Fort Macleod, Beverly (Roger) Erickson of Vermilion, Murray (Loraine) Carruthers of Sherwood Park, Barbara Michalko of Vermilion, Donald (Geri) Carruthers of Stony Plain, and James (Terri) Carruthers of Tumbler Ridge, B.C.; sister-in-law Meta Kingman; brother-in-law Hughie (Wilma) Lancaster; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted in the St. Saviour’s Anglican Church, Vermilion, on Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Peter Yeung officiating.
Hymns sung were “This is My Father’s World,” “In the Garden,” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Organist was Terri Smith. Soloist Susan Clark sang “A Perfect Day.” Reflections were by granddaughter Shaunna Yaremchuk.
The pallbearers were grandchildren Judy Gundlock, Sheri Phaff, Jay Erickson, Ron Erickson, Jason Carruthers, Greg Poile, Kathleen Gergely, Brenda Carruthers, Catherine Arlia, Darcy Carruthers, Pat Leishman, Susan Michalko, Corey Carruthers, Karla Francis, Tim Poile and Tammy Catto.
Inurnment for Lloyd and Muriel was in Archmount Cemetery, Lethbridge, on Saturday, June 7, 2003.
