Edgar, Jack

ohn (Jack) Edgar, beloved husband of Eveline Edgar of Fort Macleod, passed away in Calgary on Nov. 27, 2003 at the age of 88 years.
Besides his wife Eveline, Jack is survived by his son John; his daughter Joy (Murillo); his granddaughter Selena (Murillo); his great grandson Elijah (Dokis) and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Isabel; and by his brothers and sisters, Nancy (Gemmill), Winnie (Lockard), Alan, Norman, Wilfred and Connie (Hoffman/Henker).
Jack was born on May 8, 1915 and raised in the Allenfield district, south of Fort Macleod. He served with the Canadian Air Force 432 Squadron from 1941-’45 and was stationed in Britain from 1943 until the end of the war.
While there, he met and married Eveline (Warwick) in Allendale, Northumberland. She joined him in Canada as part of the huge exodus of war brides who travelled to North America after the war. Jack returned to Fort Macleod where he farmed in partnership with his brother Wilfred, until Wilfred’s death in 1976.
Jack and Eveline retired to live in Fort Macleod. He enjoyed his retirement immensely. He and Eveline travelled to Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Jack learned to play golf, a passion that he shared with his daughter, Joy.
He was a regular at coffee mornings and many other activities throughout the community. Jack will be remembered with love by his family and friends.
A Memorial Service was held at Trinity United Church on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Aldeen McKay officiating.
