Stevens, Claud

Claud Robert Stevens, beloved husband of the late Doris Stevens, of Fort Macleod, passed away at the Father Lacombe Care Centre in Calgary on Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at the age of 89 years. Claud was born Sept. 23, 1913 in Fort Macleod.
Claud is survived by his children, Helen (Ralph) Westington of Ottawa, and Bob (Brenda) of Calgary; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Alison, and Steven; his sister-in-law Elsie Stevens of Cold Lake; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his loving wife Doris, Claud was predeceased by his parents, C.W. and Edith Stevens; his brother John and his sister Amy Person.
After a brief period teaching, and three years as an airframe mechanic with the RCAF, Claud joined his brother John and their father in the family carpentry business in Fort Macleod. There are many buildings in the area where evidence of his careful workmanship can be found.
He will be remembered for his integrity, quiet demeanor, and endless curiosity about things mechanical. He was a member of the Masonic order, and served on various committees in the Trinity United Church and the Fort Macleod Historical Association.
His family, especially his grandchildren, brought him great pleasure.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Pioneer Lodge for their exceptional care and compassion.
A memorial service was held at Trinity United Church, 220 20th St., Fort Macleod on Saturday, June 28, 2003, at 2 pm with Rev. Aldeen McKay officiating.
