Orr, Melbourne Paul

Melbourne Paul Orr, beloved husband of Doris Orr, passed away on Aug. 14, 2004, at St. Michael’s Palliative Care, Lethbridge, at the age of 84 years.
Paul was born at Orton on June 28, 1920, on the family farm. He attended school at Orton and helped on the family farm.
In the fall of 1941, Paul joined the army and went overseas. He saw active duty in the United Kingdom and continental Europe, returning home in the fall of 1945. He served in both the Signal Corp and Motor Pool.
Upon returning home from the army, Paul took up farming with his brothers. His whole life was farming.Paul farmed south of Fort Macleod for 46 years until his retirement in 2002. At that time Doris and Paul moved to Lethbridge.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Doris and by his five children, Sylvia (John) Tucker of De Winton, Mona (Allen) Knight of Okotoks, Donna (Bud) Hogeweide of Lethbridge, Brian of Yorkton, Sask., and Darcy of Lethbridge; one grandson, Kevin Knight of Okotoks; four granddaughters: Amanda and Melissa Tucker of De Winton, Jessica Maclean of Strathmore and Kimberly Hogeweide of Lethbridge; four sisters, June Christensen of Grace, Idaho, Thelma (Bill) Redmond of Edgerton, Bessie (Bob) Dudley of Calgary and Elaine Orr of Red Deer; and by one brother Wallace (Marjorie) Orr of Orton.
Paul was predeceased by his parents William and Margaret Orr; and by three brothers, Glen, Grant and Rodney.

A funeral service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fort Macleod on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at 1 p.m. with Bishop Brian Waldie officiating.
