Herter, Erva

Erva Herter (Ford) of Fort Macleod passed away in the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Jan. 7, 2005, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was predeceased by her husband John, her son Robert, parents Frank and Sadie Ford, brothers Cecil and Norman, sisters Grace McGregor, Florence Miller and twin sister Edith Pomeroy.
Erva will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her loving family: Karen (Pat) Dillon of Lethbridge, Sharon (Robert) Asuchak of Fort Macleod, Terry (Kim) Herter of Fort Macleod and daughter-in-law Adrienne Herter of Lethbridge.
Erva is also survived by her grandchildren: Deanna (James) Jenkins, Robbie (Tara) Asuchak, Jennifer (Mike) Schaaf, Bunny-Jo (Scott) Simmons, Kelly Herter and Arran (Maria) Gray and also by her great grandchildren: Amanda, Lindsey, Abbi, Jayden, Trac, Shaelyn and Mason.
Erva was born in 1916 on the family farm southwest of Central Butte, Sask. She attended school in Lawson, Sask. and went on to normal school in Moose Jaw, Sask. She taught school 10 1/2 years in Maple Creek School Unit and 18 years in Fort Macleod.
Erva was very involved in the community and various organizations: Rebekahs, Trinity UCW, Retired Teachers, Meals on Wheels, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Order of the Royal Purple.
She was very fond of gardening, playing cards, bingo and most of all her grandchildren to whom she was known as Moni. She will be sadly missed and forever loved by her family and friends.
The funeral service was held at Trinity United Church, Fort Macleod, on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Aldeen McKay officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery.
