Norman Nathe, beloved husband of Leona Nathe of High River, passed away at High River on Thursday, June 23, 2005, at the age of 87 years.
Norman was born in Fort Macleod on Oct. 13, 1917, to Blanche and Edward Nathe.
Norman is survived by his wife Leona; his sons Lee Edward and his children Candace (Larry) Perko and children Blayke and Karis, and Dustin; Grant and Linda and their children Tammy (Jason) Ducharme and children Brittany and Trent; Rod (Kathie) Nathe and children Cole and Cassidy; and Kori (Leroy Poleman) and children Travis and Bailey; Dennis and Elsa and their children Amber (Trevor) Williams and children Brett and Genessie, Brad (Irene) and Jeff and Danny; his brother Herman of Salmon Arm, B.C.; and his sister Jean of Australia.
Norman was predeceased by his parents Blanche and Edward and his sister Yvonne. Norman and Leona were married June 22, 1945, celebrating 60 years together. They farmed south of Fort Macleod on the Blue trail for many years.
They sold the farm and retired to Fort Macleod in 1975, where Norman enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, curling and his friends at the Legion. He enjoyed travelling abroad, golfing when he could.
Norman and Leona moved to High River in 1985 to further enjoy their retirement: curling (getting an eight-ender in 1996) and golfing (getting numerous holes-in-one and usually beating most partners) and doing all of this even though he was legally blind.
Norman also served in the RCAF in his younger years. He will be missed by all who knew him and much loved by his family.
A memorial service will be held at Eden’s Funeral Home, Fort Macleod, on Monday, June 27, 2005, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Aldeen McKay officiating.
