Zumik, Margaret

It is with sincere sadness the family of Margaret Zumik wishes to announce her passing on Nov. 1, 2005. Margaret was born in Veregin, Sask. on Feb. 7, 1920, and was raised in the Vulcan district. She met and married Konon (Mike) Zumik in Fort Macleod on Dec. 21, 1937, where she made her home for 69 years. Margaret is survived by her three daughters, Mary Jane (Walter) Pickering, and their children Leonard, David (Lynn), and James, Margaret Rose (Sandy) Allen and their children Michael (Cheryl) Guidolin, Andrea Guidolin (Scott LaPrairie), and Lucy Ann (John) Pickering and their children Craig (Evelyn) MacNeill; and 14 great grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Konon (Mike) in 1979 and a daughter Shirley in 1944. Margaret was very active in the Fort Macleod community with the United Church singing in their choir and the seniors ‘choir. She also was a life-long member of the Royal Canadian Legion and served on the executive. Margaret enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to visit many countries. Prayers and reception were held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 Fourth St. N.W., Calgary (across from Queen┬╣s Park Cemetery) on Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at 3 p.m. Funeral services were held at Trinity United Church, 220 20th St., Fort Macleod, on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at 1 p.m. Interment followed in Union Cemetery, Fort Macleod.
